Music Under the Dome!

We’re proud to announce Music Under the Dome, made possible through the Bernalillo County Neighborhood Outreach Grant Program.

Every first Tuesday of the month starting in June, a new band will be playing under the dome at the Whittier Community Center. All shows are approximately 6:30 to 8:30 pm. Food trucks will be at the event but you’re welcome to bring your own!

Everyone is encouraged to attend! More info is coming soon but here is the schedule line-up:

Mala Mana

Mala Maña

June 7: Mala Maña

Albuquerque’s own women’s drum and vocal cumbia band, draws their inspiration from the rhythms of Afro-Colombia’s Atlantic and Pacific coasts, but does not stop there: woven into the mix are contemporary beat-boxing, an African-American traditional, a Caribbean-influenced European pop song, and their own cumbia-inspired, Spanish-language, original compositions.

Gamelan Enecantada

July 5: Gamelan Encantada

A percussion ensemble with roots in the metallophone orchestras of Southeast Asia, specifically those of Central Java in Indonesia.

In addition to presenting traditional Javanese music, Gamelan Encantada is committed to commissioning and performing contemporary and experimental music, with a focus on works by New Mexican composers.

Django Rhythm Meat Grinder

August 2: Django Rhythm Meat Grinder

Members Robb Janov, Dan Spanogle, Dimi Disanti and Rick Compton have managed to produce an eclectic blend of gypsy jazz, swing and funk fusion, which makes for a most unique musical exploration in today’s synthesized, pop-dominated culture.

Wild Frontier

September 6: E. Christina Herr leads the band Wild Frontier

Wild Frontier blends Americana ~ Alt Country ~ Folk and Rock ‘n Roll. From the pure simplicity of two vintage acoustic guitars to the full blown dynamics of a 6 piece Band.
