Le Chat Lunatique This Weekend! July 8th at 6:30pm

The Parkland Hills Music Under the Dome series starts off with a bang this weekend with Le Chat Lunatique!

Join us this Sunday evening from 6:30 to 8:30pm at the Whittier Dome on the corner of Kathryn and Quincy for a night of hot music!

We’ll also be joined by Rustic Truck: A Divine Food Truck so come hungry!

There are more events coming up as well as a new neighborhood Facebook page coming soon so stay tuned!

This event is made possible through the Bernalillo County Neighborhood Outreach Grant Program.

No Concert This Weekend

We regret to announce that because of a scheduling change in the awarding of Bernalillo County grants, the concert scheduled for this weekend has been canceled. We are still waiting to hear from about our funding grant to pay for these concerts. We hope to have more information soon and will post it here when we have news.

New Childcare Center

All Faiths Receiving Home (AFRH) is pleased to announce the opening of its newest child care center at 517 San Pablo SE, Plaza Feliz complex in Albuquerque’s International District. The center is now accepting children on either a CYFD subsidy as well as cash payers.

Plaza Feliz child care center is a new state-of-the-art child development center serving children from six weeks to five years of age. Town Hall Meeting About the Future of Route 66

The City of Albuquerque is hosting town hall meetings to discuss the future of Route 66. As you know, Central Avenue and Route 66 are vital to Council District 6 and we encourage everyone to attend and engage in the discussion that will include; transportation and infrastructure, inviting streetscapes, business improvements and incentives, and a strong Route 66 brand.

There will be two town halls hosted in District 6:

Wednesday, May 2, 2012, 7:00 – 8:00pm at the African American Cultural Center, 310 San Pedro Drive NE 87108

Wednesday, June 13, 2:00 – 3:00pm at the Highland Senior Center, 131 Monroe NE 87108

July 5: Gamelan Encantada

Gamelan Enecantada

A percussion ensemble with roots in the metallophone orchestras of Southeast Asia, specifically those of Central Java in Indonesia.

In addition to presenting traditional Javanese music, Gamelan Encantada is committed to commissioning and performing contemporary and experimental music, with a focus on works by New Mexican composers.
